Ultherapy treats tissue at the same depth as a modern facelift1-3
Ultherapy treatment begins with visualization, offering practitioners unprecedented insight into dermal and subdermal tissues during all phases of treatment. When combined with energy targeting at depths previously only available via surgery, and at optimal temperature, Ultherapy achieves a level of precision, consistency, and customizability befitting the Gold Standard in non-invasive skin laxity treatment.1-6
Visualization: Ultherapy sees beneath the surface
Ultherapy is the only FDA-cleared non-invasive skin laxity treatment with ultrasound visualization of dermal and subdermal tissues. Clinicians rely on visualization during planning to evaluate the anatomy of the skin and select the proper transducer(s). During treatment, visualization lets practitioners verify energy delivery depth and ensure optimal device coupling and pressure, helping avoid structures such as bone and vessels. This exclusive “see and treat” modality distinguishes Ultherapy from other nonsurgical treatments such as lasers and radio frequency (RF).1,2,4-7
Depth: Treat the skin’s foundation
Tissue laxity largely results from structural weakening in the SMAS/platysma at an approximate depth of 4.5 mm. Other non-invasive treatments such as lasers and RF are limited to treating the dermis (depth < 3 mm). Ultherapy delivers localized heating at precise depths of 1.5, 3.0, and 4.5 mm—with no effect on intervening tissues or the skin’s surface—targeting both the dermis and the foundational tissues where laxity begins.1,4,6,8
Temperature: Achieving optimized neocollagenesis
Ultherapy is the only skin-lifting treatment that achieves temperatures of 60-70°C at depth, the optimal temperature range for collagen contraction and denaturation. Without heating the skin’s surface, microfocused ultrasound energy is applied to target tissue layers, causing cellular friction and heating to approximately 65°C, which initiates aggressive neocollagenesis.1,10,11
